In couples counseling, you can explore and discover better ways to manage your relationships.

Our relationships and how we interact with partners can tell us a lot… about ourselves. So, many of the same principles and cutting-edge techniques of individual therapy apply even in a couples’ setting.

For instance, your therapist at Chrones Counseling will listen to how you interact and how you each describe the same experience. Together, the three of you will begin to see the patterns in each partner’s life and your life together. And you will see your “attachment style,” patterns that—for many people—began in childhood.

Then, your therapist at Chrones Counseling will be able to utilize talk therapy, along with many of the neuro-informed tools we use for individual therapy, to help each partner calm their nervous system, regulate their emotions and symptom, and thereby increase trust and improve the relationship. These tools include EMDR, RELEASE, and brief exercises you can use in daily life, right in front of people, without anyone knowing.

Your efforts —both in and out of therapy—will help you decide how you want to show up in your relationships.

Couples counseling can help strengthen your positive neural pathways.

Because of neuroplasticity, the more you use these tools and short, unique exercises, the stronger your positive neural pathways will become (with your new behaviors showing up more and more easily) and the weaker your negative neural pathways will become (with your old behaviors and relationship issues starting to fade away).

And other people will respond better to you. You know that you can only be responsible for your own actions. That’s why we give you many tools to create the change you want. And because we all have “mirror neurons,” your partner will also begin to change and grow. Then, your relationship can improve in ways you never thought possible.
